Step 1 Complete the pre-licensing course (study for the exam)

Michigan is one of the few states that you will start by studying first and must get a Certificate of Completion.

How to get certificate of completion

• Completion of the course including the final exam.

• Download and Print the certificate through the “Transcript” tile on the user dashboard.

• Course completion rosters will be reported to the Department of Insurance within two (2) business days.

• Education providers are required to collect and report the last four of the SSN.

• Certificates are valid for 12 months.

If you didn't pass on the first try do not give up.

To change or cancel your testing appointment, you must call (800) 868-6113 at least 48 hours in advance or forfeit the examination fee.

Once you turn everything in and complete wait 2 business days and call the state Department of insurance and confirm they have everything. The average time to receive your license is 5-15 Business Days.
